In their press briefing, Juliana Cherera read a statement that "as a commission, we have done a good job but some things need to be put out there.

As you can see, the four of us are here not in at the Bomas of Kenya where the presidential results are going be announced because of the opaque nature of how this phase has been handled.

We therefore cannot take ownership of the results that are going to be announced. We therefore have an open door of people being allowed to go to court and because of the same we urge Kenyans to be peaceful because the rule of the law is going to prevail."

Moments after four IEBC Commissioners Led by Juliana Cherera issuing a statement in which they explained why they couldn't attend the official release of the Presidential election results, the Raila Odinga Presidential Secretariat Spokesperson Prof. Makau Mutua has spoken on the same.

Prof. Makau Mutua who is a lawyer by profession took to Facebook to react to the developments and backed the commissioners absence as a solid reason for the exercise not to have been conducted.

He also argued that the results being announced by the IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati at the Bomas of Kenya aren't legitimate.

The reason for his argument being that the four commissioners absence meant that there was no quorum for the same to legally be conducted

"Any results that the IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati announces are invalid because he had no quorum of commissioners to hold a plenary and make such a weighty decision. The ongoing process at Bomas is now illegal," he wrote.
