Looming Fallout, Tension in UDA as Ruto Reads Riot Act

Tension is rising in Kenya Kwanza, threatening to split the alliance and scuttle DP Ruto’s bid with the self-declared hustler reading the riot act to his troops.

Reports indicate that at the center of the crisis is the jostling for Ministerial, Ambassadorial and top government positions by UDA politicians who either lost the nominations or were talked into dropping their bids to support their rivals.

Ruto and his handlers are keen to retain them in UDA especially in Mount Kenya region as defecting to Jubilee would eat into his lead in the mountain and boost Raila Odinga.

Fully aware that Ruto needs them, the politicians are playing hardball and now want to be assured of their place in the next dispensation should Ruto win.

However, matters are complex as everyone is keen on landing a role in the cabinet or an ambassadorial role to a nation of high profile.

Fearing betrayal, the politicians are reported to be seeking audience with DP Ruto with everyone keen on stealing the show and getting their share of the UDA cake.

Ruto’s inner circle is however not impressed as the bickering is slowing momentum when it matters most.
The UDA flag bearer is understood to have reprimanded his troops especially from mount Kenya where he often gets a huge following and loud cheers during his rallies but the numbers failed to reflect during nominations despite UDA’s chest-thumping that it is the party to beat.

Moses Wetangula, while campaigning for DP Ruto on Monday, 02 May let the cat out of the bag by speaking on the power sharing deal in Kenya Kwanza.

Wetangula divulged that 30 percent of all government jobs, including diplomatic roles have been reserved for Ford Kenya and ANC.

The remaining 70 percent would be shared among Mount Kenya, Rift Valley and other parts of the country.

With this revelation, the vote-rich mount Kenya is now keen on landing the running mate slot lest be shortchanged in the deal.

The matter of running mate is also a nightmare that Ruto is understood to be a thorn in the flesh for Ruto despite his allies maintaining that they are on top of things.
